About this Case

In this case, the Supreme Court has been asked to review and reverse the decision of the Intermediate Court of Appeals of Hawai`i penalizing the owner of a bed and breakfast for refusing to condone and cooperate with actions she considered immoral by allowing a same-sex couple to rent a room at her establishment.

Summary of NLF's Brief

Along with the National Legal Foundation, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Samaritan’s Purse, National Association of Evangelicals, Concerned Women for America, Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation, and Pacific Justice Institute argue the fact that the free exercise of religion and the freedom of assembly include a right not to facilitate, cooperate, or associate with activity one sincerely believes is contrary to the dictates of her religion.
